Shenzhen, December 12 (Xinhua) -- The 2026 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Informal Senior Officials' Meeting was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province from December 11 to 12, marking the beginning of the "China Year" of APEC.

The attending parties highly appreciate China's efforts in promoting the construction of the Asia Pacific Community and express their willingness to actively support China in hosting the 2026 APEC meeting, jointly promoting the successful completion of the APEC "Year of China" and making new contributions to promoting economic growth in the Asia Pacific region and the world.

The meeting unanimously approved China's proposed APEC theme for 2026, "Building an Asia Pacific Community and Promoting Common Prosperity," and the three priority areas of "Openness, Innovation, and Cooperation," and confirmed the annual meeting schedule.

The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Chen Xu, Chairman of the 2026 APEC Senior Officials' Meeting. Nearly 200 representatives from APEC member economies, secretariat, observers, academia, and business attended.

APEC is the most important economic cooperation mechanism in the Asia Pacific region. The 33rd APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting will be held in Shenzhen in November 2026, with high-level officials' meetings, ministerial meetings, and other events taking place in multiple cities in China.
