A key breakthrough has been made in the construction of the largest single integrated logistics hub in China
On January 2, reporters learned from the Shenzhen Engineering Construction Headquarters of China Railway Guangzhou Group that the ground-level railway project of the Shenzhen Pinghu South Comprehensive Logistics Hub, the largest single comprehensive logistics hub in China, had been successfully completed. This marked that the railway transportation function of the project was ready for operation and that the engineering construction had achieved a key breakthrough.

As one of the first 23 national logistics hubs in China, the Shenzhen Pinghu South Comprehensive Logistics Hub was designed and constructed with the participation of China Railway Construction Corporation. With a total construction area of 1.11 million square meters, it adopts a three-dimensional development model, organically integrating railway, highway, and maritime transportation functions, and building a super logistics platform featuring "lower-level railway running through, upper-level intelligent warehousing, and surrounding road network".
The ground-level railway project completed this time serves as the "steel artery" for the hub's operation. Based on the existing railway freight yard, the construction team has newly built and renovated a total length of approximately 4.6 kilometers of railway lines, encompassing arrival-departure tracks, shunting tracks, and container operation tracks. Sun Zheng, the chief engineer of the China Railway Construction Corporation project, stated that after the ground-level railway becomes fully operational, it will become a high-speed rail express node within the hub, connecting multiple railways such as the Hangzhou-Shenzhen Railway and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway. In the initial stage, it can undertake railway collection and distribution tasks exceeding 600,000 TEU/year.
After the comprehensive completion of the Pinghu South Integrated Logistics Hub in Shenzhen, it is expected that the cargo throughput will reach 30 million tons by 2035, making it the largest single railway logistics center in China and the largest single-scale integrated transportation center for road, rail, and sea in Asia, further strengthening the logistics connectivity between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the regions jointly built under the Belt and Road Initiative.
